ARTS FOR EVERYONE
“This was an experience not a performance.” “My God it’s so beautiful,
even in the prison.” Women’s Community Correctional Center, Kailua

IONA's Community Outreach and Education Programs bring performing arts to a variety of underserved organizations, Title One schools, and communities island-wide. IONA has appeared in dozens of free public performances, from beaches to shopping malls to city streets, each time leaving a life-affirming mark on all who see them.

VISIONS OF ANGELS
IONA’s ‘Visions of Angels’ community outreach program brings angels from ‘The Mythology of Angels’ to prisons, hospitals, hospices, senior centers, youth at risk, and populations in crisis. Without exception, these audiences have responded with tears and smiles, and the dancers themselves have evolved from theatrical performers into truly angelic beings in body and spirit.

THE ENCHANTED FOREST
A gallery style performance that provides close-up views of the dancers as living art installations. Through maps provided with educational materials, students circulate throughout the performance space much like an art gallery as each installation begins with dance and ends with a narration about the Company's work and the environment.

FULL CIRCLE EDUCATION PROGRAM
IONA’s new education program places high school students elbow to elbow with professionals in a learning-feedback platform that connects the arts to watches the real world. Students follow IONA's Annual Season production though rehearsals to the stage, with immersive sessions in dance and choreography, marketing, technical production, costume building, and arts administration.
